The blogs That Make Money Are The Blogs That Stand Out.
It's Not About How Hard You Work
If all it takes to build a successful blog is working hard and putting in the time…there would be a lot more successful bloggers.
I can certainly tell you that I would have been successful a heck of a lot sooner if the magic bullet was hustling hard.
I vividly remember my early years as a blogger. Pouring hours and hours of time into my blog, feeling like I was talking to an audience of crickets.
I struggled for months. Years actually. Before I finally found my way. I can’t tell you how often I would find myself wishing that there was somewhere I could turn to for advice.
It was then that I decided if I ever got it figured out, I would help other bloggers.
Have you Ever Wished Someone Would Just Show You What To Do?
You know, take you by the hand and say “do this with your blog” and “whatever you do, don’t do that!”
I’ll won’t tell you that I have it all figured out, because I don’t.
Every day I am still learning new things about blogging.
But I have learned a lot in the last 12 years of building blogs.
And I’ve been told by my students that I have a gift for making things simple and easy to understand.
If you want someone who will answer your questions and show you the way (or find the answers for you if I don’t know them)…then I’d love to be your guide.
Blogging Is A Journey
Blogging is a journey. And it’s supposed to be fun.
But when it feels like it’s taking forever to get your blog up and running…
Or when it seems that no matter how much effort you are putting into your blog it’s just not getting noticed…
That can take the fun right out of blogging.
And when that goes on and on, day after day, month after month…
Well that’s just discouraging – plain and simple! It’s also one of the biggest reasons so many bloggers end up giving up.
I don’t want that to happen to you. So let’s start by talking about what it takes to create a blog that get’s noticed.
How Do I Make My Blog Stand Out?
That’s the big question isn’t it? But the answer is surprisingly simple. It comes down to your blog’s message.
If want to stand out, you need be able to clearly communicate your blog’s message. If you can do that, it will put you MILES ahead of your competition.
I have looked at thousands of blogs in the last 10 years. And I can tell you right now, over 90% of bloggers aren’t making their blog’s message clear to their readers.
Not because they don’t want to, but because they don’t know how. If that describes you, then read on my friend!
What's Your Blog's Message?
One of the things that I’ve noticed is that there is a lot of confusion around what a “blog’s message” actually is.
A lot of bloggers think of their blog’s message as their tagline. But it’s actually so much more than that.
Your tagline is simply a starting point for your readers. It’s purpose is to give your readers a quick snapshot of what your blog is about. A big picture view.
Your blog’s message on the other hand, tells your readers that you understand the challenges they are facing; how those challenges are affecting their lives; and how you can help them overcome those challenges.
In order to be effective – you have to carry your message throughout your blog – both in the content AND in the design.
How Do You Find Your Blog's Message?
Trying to find your blog’s message can sometimes feel like you’re lost in a maze.
You kinda sorta think you know what it is…but you just can’t seem to put it into words.
THAT is the issue right there, and exactly why so many people struggle so much with this idea of finding their blog’s message.
You see finding your blog’s message isn’t something that you “magically” pull out of your heart and head and then find a way to “put it into words.”
There’s an actual process to follow. And that process will not only help you discover what your blog’s message is, but will show you how to build it into your blog.
This process is part of what I call the blogging success path.
The Blogging Success Path
Ultimately, my goal here at Blog to Biz Strategies is to show you that making money blogging doesn’t have to be hard. Sure it takes time and work. But as long as you have a path to follow, you can do it.
To make it easy for you, I’ve taken everything I’ve learned in the last 12+ years of building profitable blogs and distilled it down into a step-by-step easy to follow path. With every blog I’ve built (and I’ve built quite a few), I’ve refined the path a little further.
Is it the ONLY path to a successful blog?
Of course not! There are a lot of paths that lead to success. The trick is to choose one and follow it.
What I’ve done below, is to give you an overview of my personal path to blogging success.
I encourage you to read through it a few times, think about it, and then really let it soak in.
You see, when it comes to building a blog and biz there are a lot of things to do. And what usually causes overwhelm in bloggers is trying to do too many things at once.
That’s where having a path will help you. It will show you what to do, and in what order. Which is especially important if you’re just starting out.
If you’ve already been blogging, I would still encourage you to take a look at the path. You see the biggest reason a lot of bloggers struggle, is because somewhere along the way, they’ve missed a key step. If that’s the case, the way to move forward with your blog, is actually by going back and doing the steps you missed.
When you follow the blogging success path, you’ll find your blogging message and learn how to use it to make your blog stand out. A stand-out blog, is exactly what you need if you want your blog to be successful.
Plan & Prepare
If you want to make money blogging, you have to treat your blog like an online business. That means setting up the biz side of things and then getting yourself into an entrepreneurial head space.
Step 2 - Find and Get To Know Your Ideal Audience
Who does your blog serve? What are they interested in? What are the issues that they are struggling with? What problems do they need solutions to?
Step 3 - Clarify Your Blog's Message
Your message needs to be easy to understand and it should clearly communicate the value of what you offer.
Step 4 - Create Your Customer Journey Framework
Map out the path that you are going to take your reader on in order to help them achieve the results they are looking for and then use that path to structure the content on your blog.
Step 5 - Create Captivating Content
As a blogger, content is at the heart of your blog. It’s also where most blogger’s go wrong. Instead of taking the “spaghetti approach to blogging” it’s important that your content is aligned with your message and presented strategically.
Step 6 - Build a Website That Sells
Your blog should clearly communicate your message, be easy to navigate, and give huge value to your reader. It should make your readers want more and invite them into a deeper relationship with you.
Step 7 - Promote Your Content Effectively
Once every other step has been followed, set up a content creation schedule and choose traffic strategies that will send a consistent and ever-growing flow of people to your blog.
Step 8 - Monetize The Smart Way
This is about choosing methods of monetization that allow you to make money from your blog in a way that is consistent and scalable.
Grow Your Blog and Online Business
There are several ways to do this. By expanding your product offerings, offering higher priced products and expanding your audience.
Where Do You Go From Here?
You should now have an idea of the main steps involved in finding your blog’s message and how that fits into the overall blogging success path. From here, it’s time to dive deeper into the areas where you specifically need help.
Below you’ll find links to different categories of content I have here on my blog. Please note that this blog is still VERY new. As in, it went live at the end of February 2019. I’ve been working hard on creating content…but being a blogger yourself, I know that you realize it’s a process. So please be patient. I promise it’s coming as fast as I can write.
